Burnley College has great facilities and a friendly environment.

Starting as a pupil at St Augustine’s RC High School, Mae always had a passion for swimming and hoped to develop this into something beyond a hobby. Studying at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre, Mae took up an Advanced Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science.

Mae now wishes to be a PE Teacher, helping and watching others develop their sport into something amazing. Making this dream a reality, she now reads Sports Coaching at Leeds Beckett University.

During her time at College, she took on a variety of sports to take part in beyond swimming including Netball.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Sports and Exercise Science

Doing a placement was one of the highlights of Mae’s time at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre. Given the opportunity to do a placement at a Primary School gave her the experience of teaching sports to children first-hand across all age ranges from reception to year six. In addition to this, Mae was part of the Elite Academy which allowed her to build her strength in and outside the pool. The Institute of Sport was something she found very intriguing and enabled her to see environments where Professional Athletes perform.
