Sixth Form
Making your own way to College and taking responsibility for your own travel arrangements is an important step to becoming independent.
Burnley is at the heart of many bus routes across Lancashire, Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire, with regular weekday service stopping just minutes from Campus. We also have direct routes – which drop off and pick up from the College grounds – from Barnoldswick and the Ribble Valley areas.
Bus passes for your preferred route (valid seven days a week) can be purchased in advance via College each term. If you achieve 100% attendance in a term, we will reimburse you the full cost of your bus pass (which works out at under £3 a week). You may also be eligible for free travel, depending on your household income (subject to conditions).
We can also signpost Themis Apprentices to access discounted bus travel via Lancashire County Council.
Rail passes/tickets can be bought directly from the train operator and are not subject to any College incentives. However, you may be eligible for a travel grant for free or subsidised rail travel depending on your income (subject to conditions).
A bus or train timetable may not exactly match your academic timetable. This is a great opportunity for you to take advantage of our free breakfast offer at College; collaborate on projects with classmates; complete additional study or extra-curricular activities or socialise with friends.
Safe pedestrian routes into the town centre are easily accessible from College and we also offer bike lockers (for a small, refundable deposit) and an affordable bicycle loan scheme for those wishing to cycle to College.
