Jason brings extensive experience in education, industry partnerships, and the Armed Forces to his role as Principal and Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, Jason served as the award-winning Deputy Chief Executive Office at the Education Training Collective in Tees Valley. His diverse background gives him a fresh outlook that inspires and motivates both learners and staff at Burnley College.

Chief Finance and Operating Officer at Burnley College

STUART ARNFIELD

Stuart is responsible for developing and implementing our Financial Strategy to ensure we maintain a sustainable college to serve the community now and in the future. Stuart has almost 20 years’ experience across finance and operational improvement roles within and supporting the education sector. Since joining Burnley College in 2019, he has supported the college to double in size and develop the college campus with three new buildings, including the award-winning Industry Hub.

SARAH CROSSLEY

Vice Principal for Curriculum at Burnley College

SARAH CROSSLEY

Sarah is responsible for the Young People provision alongside strategic leadership of A Levels, Creative Arts and Digital, Maths and English, and Business and Professional Studies. Sarah has over 20 years’ experience in further education, teaching and leading across a range of young people, adult and university provision. Her leadership in further education is underpinned by a strong research foundation, including a Master’s in Education and a Doctorate in Education.

NINA PARKIN

Vice Principal for Curriculum at Burnley College

NINA PARKIN

Nina is responsible for Higher Education and Adult provision alongside strategic leadership of Engineering, Construction, Fitness, Beauty, and Science, Health and Education. She is responsible for driving curriculum development, expanding pathways for adult learners to upskill and reskill and helping learners gain the knowledge, skills and qualifications needed to progress into higher education and rewarding careers. Nina also serves as a Governor for the EPT Trust at Burnley High School, supporting the Trust’s strategic direction and commitment to educational excellence.

ALYS TREGEAR

Vice Principal for Student Experience at Burnley College

ALYS TREGEAR

Alys joins Burnley College as Vice Principal for Student Experience (including Inclusion) and is the Strategic Designated Safeguarding Lead for the college. Alys has taken on a range of other governance roles in education and safeguarding and has been nominated as an Inclusive Champion and Inspirational Careers Leader for her work within the sector. She also received her Level 7 in Careers Leadership from Warwick University and is a certified Trauma Informed Practitioner.

REBECCA IVERSON

Vice Principal for Quality and Enhanced Learning at Burnley College

REBECCA IVERSON

Rebecca brings over 20 years’ leadership experience across education and business with particular expertise in Further Education and Alternative Provision. Rebecca leads the development of the college’s self-assessment review and quality improvement plan, is the colleges nominee for Ofsted inspections, and works collaboratively with leaders and teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure learners receive a consistently high-quality education and experience.

With extensive leadership experience across the education and healthcare sectors, Sonya is passionate about creating environments where people can thrive. Sonya leads the colleges people strategy and central services, championing wellbeing, inclusion and opportunity for colleagues and learners.

NEIL BURROWS

Director of Skills and Business Development at Burnley College

NEIL BURROWS

Neil leads Themis, Burnley College’s apprenticeship and business training division, supporting employers, building key stakeholder relationships and representing the college across local, regional and national networks. Neil has over 30 years’ experience in skills and training, spanning apprenticeships, national skills organisations and international workforce development, before joining Burnley College as Head of Engineering in 2016 and progressing into senior leadership in 2019.

ADAM BIRD

Director of Marketing & Communications at Burnley College

ADAM BIRD

Adam brings more than 20 years’ experience in post-16 education, spanning teaching, business development and senior marketing leadership, as well as an earlier career in retail management. Adam is leading marketing and recruitment strategy across SMT and overseeing communications, events and school liaison, partnering with schools and the community, ensuring everyone knows about and can access our courses, and receives the support and guidance needed for their next steps.
