Engineering
Aside from the theoretical and practical skills engineering students gain while studying the course, Joshua attended trips to engineering museums and local companies to get a feel of the engineering profession first-hand. In addition to this, having many external guest speakers come in and talk about their profession and the engineering industry gave Joshua the true view of what engineering is.
STUDENT
Joshua studied a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre after completing his GCSEs at St Augustine’s RC High School.
In hopes of becoming an Aeronautical Engineer, Joshua was a bright and ambitious student, having gained the highest grades in his year and also having been awarded Student of the Year was only the beginning of his journey.
He now has a full-time job in the Engineering Industry alongside an apprenticeship at Fort Vale, well on his way to achieving his dream career.

Plessey Black
Computer Aided Design and Engineering
Teaching Computer Aided Design & Engineering and Drawing at Level 3, Plessey is passionate about bringing Engineering to life at Burnley College. With 8 years of experience in Computer Aided Manufacturing & Programming and Setting, she is keen to pass her knowledge on to her students within the Engineering division.
Plessey has completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering and Manufacturing alongside a CertEd Professional Qualification. She also has 8 years of experience in Communication Systems in the Royal Navy, giving her a unique set of skills and knowledge to inspire her students.
