Travel and TourismAs a Travel and Tourism student, Amelia had the opportunity to visit numerous cities across the UK and abroad, including Edinburgh, London, Manchester and New York. She also enjoyed visits from a variety of guest speakers including representatives from Jet2, past Burnley College students now enjoying successful careers at Marella Cruises, Springboard Careers and Counter Terrorism experts, giving her an in-depth insight into all areas of the travel and tourism industry. A highlight of her studies was the two-week work experience placement in an industry setting where she gave guided group tours and cabin crew demonstrations to showcase her skills and understanding.

Amelia is an aspiring Air Traffic Controller, determined to be at the heart of Aviation Management and ensuring the safety of passengers.
Completing her GCSEs at Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School was only the start of her journey as Amelia decided to take her learning to thenext level at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre and bring her passion to life.
After successful completion of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management, Amelia is now reading Aviation Management and Operations at The Aviation Academy at Leeds-Bradford International Airport.
Course Leader Travel and Tourism
Sophie teaches NCFE and BTEC Tourism, Hospitality and Events across Levels 1 to 3. Fascinated by the current, global and relevant nature of her specialist subject, she is passionate about passing on her enthusiasm and expertise to all her students.
Sophie brings learning to life using her experience in the hotel industry in Tenerife, in numerous hospitality venues and organisations in the UK, and in quality and compliance in customer service for the CSA. Sophie is a great role model for her students.
Having attained her degree in International Tourism at Bolton University, she went taught at Blackpool and the Fylde College and is now a valued member of the Burnley College Family.
