Completing his GCSEs at Unity College was just the beginning for Stephen. Having an interest and passion for dancing and performing, he enrolled at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre to study an Advanced Diploma in Dance.

Stephen’s enthusiasm was shown through his interest in studying in Manchester after completing his Advanced Diploma. After exceeding all expectations, he now reads Professional and Commercial Dance at Shockout Arts in Manchester. 

He wishes to go above and beyond to become a Professional Dancer, sharing his love of dance with audiences around the world.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Dance

Studying Dance at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre has given many students, including Stephen, a chance to experience the subject through a lens never experienced before. Stephen had the chance to attend The Lowry in Salford to watch Dance performances by Rambert and Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures. He also performed at Burnley Gotta Dance at the Burnley Mechanics Theatre. “Burnley College has given me opportunities to showcase my talent in dance shows. I am extremely grateful for my Tutors supporting me through the process” Stephen performed at many schools including Moor Nook Primary School as part of Black History Month and also led a workshop to Year 6 pupils on slavery.

Samantha Allen

Dance and Performing Arts

Samantha read at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance achieving a BA(Hons) in Performing Arts: Contemporary Dance.

After graduating, Samantha freelanced as a dance artist choreographing and performing in dance theatre companies across the North West including the Roundhouse, London and the Green Room, Manchester. Alongside performing, she was an Artist in Residence for youth dance companies, creating and presenting work at youth dance festivals across the North West.

She now teaches Dance and Performing Arts at Levels 2 & 3 and Higher Education.

“I love teaching dance as I am able to hone the students talents and support them in achieving more than they thought possible and expose them to dance theatre that they never knew existed.”
