About this vacancy

  • By the end of year 4 you will have completed a qualification in Mechanical maintenance NVQ Level 3.
  • Qualifications to apply or predicted grades English, Maths and Science grade 5/6 and above
  • Year 1 will be full time off the job training learning basic skills and awareness at a training centre
  • Years 2-4 will be based 4 days per week on site at Clitheroe – and 1 further day a week at college working towards HNC in Mechanical Maintenance.
  • On Completion of the apprenticeship you will have a high level of general health and safety awareness appropriate to working in a chemical environment.
  • You will gain a wide experience working on process plants and equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, screws and powder transfer conveyors.
  • You will learn how to use our on site computerised maintenance management system, SAP PM.

Duties/main responsibilties include:

Your Responsibilities

  • To work safely always and participate in delivering site targets including EHS, Quality and OEE, so that best practice and standards are always in place.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians to carry out all site maintenance activities, using for example (fault finding techniques and diagnostics, structured involvement in breakdown repairs, participate in routine maintenance and scheduled structured shutdowns. (Within the limits of competence and with relevant training)
  • Work alongside the multi discipline maintenance section to ensure that all production equipment operates reliably.
  • Update all maintenance activities into the CMMS system.
  • Work with mentors and the Maintenance Leadership team to develop skills and knowledge on all equipment across site.
  • Complete a logbook as a record of tasks carried out as a demonstration of the knowledge and experience that has been gained during the apprenticeship.  This logbook will form part of the demonstration of competency on completion of the apprenticeship.
