What will the Institute of Technology do for me?

Lancashire & Cumbria IoT has an ambitious vision to deliver world-class higher technical education to increase the supply of highly skilled employees across key industries.

As part of a broader government strategy underpinned by a vision of greater social mobility and improved opportunity for all, we are planning to achieve the following for each of our stakeholder groups:

For learners – we will:

  • Provide industry standard facilities and a curriculum which reflects current and future needs across the various technology sectors
  • Inspire and raise the aspirations of learners from school leavers to adults returning to education
  • Develop the non-academic skills and behaviours learners require to function effectively in the modern workplace
  • Increase social mobility by targeting under-represented groups, developing previously unrecognised talent and improving gender balance
  • Break down geographical barriers to learning by mixing styles of provision delivery
  • Create career pathways for learners allowing them to secure meaningful employment with excellent progression opportunities
