Themis Apprentice Cameron joins the fight against COVID-19 at the heart of the NHS

When Cameron Brown started his Themis Apprenticeship with East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as a Patient Services Assistant, he never imagined he’d be at the forefront of one of the biggest challenges the NHS has ever faced!

Based at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, Cameron’s daily tasks include running the helpdesk, moving patients and ensuring the hospital is as clean as possible … and it’s this latter task that has taken on particular importance during the outbreak of Covid-19.

“We always work as a team, but currently we are really pulling together to make sure we prioritise tasks so that, ultimately, the hospital can run as efficiently as possible.  It’s certainly an interesting experience for me as an Apprentice and makes you fully appreciate that every person within an organisation as complex as a hospital has a crucial role to play,” he says.
