Burnley College University Courses Launches Specialist Strength and Conditioning Degree

Burnley College University Courses (BCUC) students are getting the chance to learn from nationally-recognised experts as it launches its Strength and Conditioning degree.

The BSc(Hons) in Strength and Conditioning is a Sport and Fitness industry-recognised degree which can act as a passport to working with elite athletes and top-of-the-league sports clubs across the UK and the world.

The degree teaches you how to take coaching or instructing to the highest professional level – with a focus on bio-mechanics, physiology and psychology alongside practical training methods.

The course starts in September, and applications are now open – but Lecturers and trainers have already been sharing their expertise with British Cycling.

Twenty world-class cyclists from around the UK gathered for a day of riding on Lancashire’s roads and an intense training session in the Fitness Evolution gym – led by Strength and Conditioning lead coach Nathan Norris – who was instrumental in establishing the degree course in Burnley.

The cutting-edge course is validated by Buckinghamshire New University and combines practical skills and theory with a focus on analysis and evaluation.

Adam Blakeley, BCUC Curriculum Manager says:

“This is outstanding news for those individuals who share our passion for sports and fitness. It’s the next step into a career with elite sports clubs around the world. It opens so many doors.

“It gives those who want to progress from coaching or being a Physical Trainer to working at the highest levels in the industry a real chance to achieve their career goals.”

The launch of the exciting new degree this Autumn comes alongside the construction of a new high-performance gym at Fitness Evolution, which forms part of the learning hub for BCUC students at the heart of Burnley College’s £100 million Campus and brings cutting edge technology including cryotherapy and hydrotherapy to the heart of Burnley.
