Black Tie Honour at Oxford for Burnley College Sixth Form Tutor
What would you do if you got an offer to visit the University of Oxford?
Accept it straight away!
That’s exactly what Geography Tutor Liam Hurley did when Burnley College Sixth Form Centre Alumna Maisy Vasic invited him to an exclusive black-tie dinner at her college, Christ Church.
It has been Maisy’s dream to study Geography at Oxford since she was young. Her dedication, passion and commitment to her A Level studies meant she achieved exactly that.
Maisy says the support she received at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre was amazing:
“All the help I could need was available to me as soon as I started the application process – from my personal statement to practice interviews.
“I was also particularly grateful to my Geography Tutor Liam, who went above and beyond in preparing me for my interview. That’s why I invited him down to celebrate at my college.”
Liam said he was delighted to be invited:
“Maisy has always been incredible. Hard working, naturally brilliant and dedicated. I can’t take credit for that. But to be able to help someone in whatever way you can to achieve their dream is a real honour.
“It’s amazing to see our former Students out in the wide world and see how it’s not just about teaching people to pass exams – it’s about creating fully-rounded individuals who will go on to become the future leaders of the world.”
Maisy also continues to excel outside the world of academia, maintaining her place as a professional cyclist riding with a French National Team and has recently passed her grade 8 violin.
