“At The Vanguard of Progress” – Burnley College Commended in National Awards for its Outstanding Engineering Industry Links

Congratulations to everyone in the Division of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Excellence here at Burnley College.

They’ve been commended for their outstanding work in the highly-prestigious Association of Colleges’ annual Beacon Awards and are now in the running, against top Colleges from across the country, for a place in the finals.

The College was singled out for praise in the City and Guilds Award for College Engagement with Employers.

The pioneering, industry-leading approach of Tutors and Trainers was said to be “at the vanguard of progress” through its foundation of the employer-led North West Engineering Advisory Board and employer engagement at the heart of its Engineers’ Programmes for Year 11 students considering a career in this exciting industry.

It sees all decisions around course development at College, equipment purchase, recruitment methods and more thoroughly discussed with a board of leaders within the engineering industry.

This means we can make sure our Learners are equipped with the latest, most relevant and most desirable skills to employers, ensuring industry is never left with a skills gap and our dedicated and passionate Learners are employment-ready.

The Association of Colleges Beacon Awards celebrate the best and most innovative practice among UK further education colleges. They demonstrate and promote the far-reaching impact of colleges on their students and the communities they serve.
