About the course

If you are looking to further your knowledge within the highly advanced Engineering industry, this course will enable you to develop and apply your understanding of Engineering within your choice from four specialist subject areas:

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English and a Science, Technology or Engineering-related subject. A-levels at grade C or above in both a Mathematical based subject and a Science, Technology, Engineering or additional Mathematics related subject, or 90+ credits in an Engineering BTEC at level 3. Applications are also welcomed from mature students who have gained relevant skills through a wide range of vocational qualifications or responsible experience and experiential learning will also usually be considered.

Assessment

You will learn through a range of teaching methods that will include: Lectures, Seminars, Tutorials, Workshops and Practical Sessions, Online resources, Independent Learning Research and Industrial Visits. Assessments are based on Written Assignments, Practical and Laboratory Work, and Presentations so that you can show application of the subjects learned in the classroom.

Careers & Progression

With a HNC in Engineering, you could earn a salary in excess of £28,000 across a broad range of roles through the Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing sector. You'll be eligible to apply for roles such as Design Engineer, CAD Engineer, Quality Engineer, Product Engineer, Project Engineer, Control Engineer.

Additional Details

Equipment Needed

You will need a notebook, pen, pencil, Casio FX-83GTX Scientific Calculator (or similar), and a tablet/laptop with a word processor for writing assignments. You also need a sketchpad and sketch pens which will be provided during the first week of the course for a small contribution of £5.00.

Equipment Supplied

All specialist software, experiment equipment and specialist computer resources are made available during the course.

Information About Fees

Part-time £3,000 per year (2 year duration). Full-time £9,000 per year (1 year duration). Course fees can be paid privately or via your employer. Fees may also be paid via a Student Finance England (SFE) Tuition Fee Loan subject to your personal eligibility.
