About the course
This course will introduce you to the basics of working in the Public Services industry including: Skills for Public Services, Assisting the Public, Outdoor Education, Forensic Detection and Public Service Incidents. Any students who are interested in looking for employment in a Public Service area will benefit from this course. Students can enhance their skills and qualities by taking part in extra-curricular activities and events that will be organised. Assessment is via coursework, presentations, active learning tasks and practical assessments.

Entry Requirements
Two GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English Language OR a relevant Foundation Learning qualification including GCSE grade 3 in English Language. There may also be an additional assessment.
Assessment
Assessment is via coursework, active learning tasks, practical learning tasks, case studies, reports, TV shows, discussions, table top exercises and presentations.

Extra curricular activities
Through extra-curricular trips and visits, and volunteering, students will also experience the life skills and qualities that Public Services are looking for in their new recruits. This includes: London: Houses of Parliament, Royal Courts of Justice and Europe House, Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Fitness Testing Days with the Marines and RAF, Decontamination Exercise with East Lancs Fire and Rescue, Outdoor Expeditions, including climbing, mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking and Volunteering.
