Atrium

Our bright, open Atrium is the hub of College life. It’s where you’ll access all the support you need from our Student Services team; meet up with friends and enjoy a wide range of events and exhibitions which are staged here during the day and in the evening.

Places to Eat

You’ll never be stuck for somewhere to eat when you’re in College. 

Our Refectory is open from early morning to early evening and offers a range of healthy and traditional breakfasts, lunch and dinner options to cater for all tastes and dietary requirements.

The refectory Dessert Bar is here when you need a sweet fix from milkshakes to waffles with ice cream and fresh fruit.

The Atrium Café offers light breakfast, lunch and snacks, including a wide range of hot and cold drinks and cakes.

Barbell Barista situated in Fitness Evolution proudly serves Starbucks Coffee, healthy lunch options, hot and cold drinks and a licensed bar.

The I Block Coffee Shop is the place to grab a hot or cold drink to enjoy in the airy and modern seating area. At lunch you can choose from sandwiches, wraps and a selection of hot food.

We are proud of the five star food hygiene rating awarded by the Food Standards Agency and our daily menus include vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and Halal options.

We offer FREE breakfasts to students.

Vending machines are available throughout college.

Active Learning Zones (ALZ)

Specialist academic zones where you can study and revise in calm and inspirational surroundings. Designed to encourage independent learning and create the ideal transition to university-level study, our ALZs are filled with state-of-the-art laptops and iPads for students to access subject-specific online resources and academic journals. Support is also available from specialist staff who can advise on anything from creating a bibliography to proof-reading an essay.

Low Carbon Hub

Our pioneering new Low Carbon Hub has been specially created to provide ground-breaking learning spaces.

The leading development will provide expert training for businesses working to operate more sustainably and boost green skills among their workforce.

We have invested in a range of technologies from Electric Boilers and Smart Home systems to Photovoltaic training rigs and wind turbines to support the battery storage of power, demonstrating emerging technologies and a greener future.

The development of this exciting hub has been made possible as part of The Lancashire Colleges and the Strategic Development Fund, supporting colleges and local employers to work together to create a skilled workforce for a future low-zero carbon economy.

Centre of Engineering Excellence and Advanced Manufacturing

Robotics; Composites, Mechanical, Electrical and Aeronautical Engineering; CAD 3D Modelling; CNC Programming; Welding and Fabrication – our Centre of Engineering Excellence and Advanced Manufacturing is an award-winning industry-leader. Our purpose-built, modern facilities are brimming with the latest high specification equipment, including a state-of-the art Robotics lab, and resources found in the workplace following extensive research and close collaboration with leading national and global employers, including Safran Nacelles, WEC Group and Hycrome Europe.

Construction and Future Technologies Centre

Construction industry and working on building sites comes to life in our purpose-built Construction and Future Technologies Centre. Specialist electronics and plumbing workshops offer a true taste of industry and from bricklaying to plastering and tiling, joinery to painting and decorating, learners have the space to hone their skills and receive expert guidance from our industry-leading Tutors.

I Block (Health and Education)

The four-storey environmentally friendly building houses 20 interactive classrooms, a coffee bar and social spaces, as well as specialist facilities, including a hospital ward simulation and state-of-the-art Anatomage Table (a human 3D anatomy table) predominantly for students in Health and Education-related subjects, including T Levels in Health and Healthcare Science.

Built on sustainable principles and opened in 2022, the block is completely fossil fuel free, offering study and social spaces designed with the student experience at its heart.

Early Steps Nursery

Early Steps is the perfect learning environment for those considering a career working with children, whether that’s within a nursery, as a play specialist or a teacher. Fully-equipped with everything an outstanding nursery needs, Early Steps is sponsored by Hope Education and filled with its specialist learning aids, toys and resources to ensure students gain as realistic an experience as possible to prepare them for a successful career in their chosen sector.

Science Hubs

Our specialist Science Hubs are the perfect location for learners to develop their love of Science and conduct research into their specialist subjects. Kitted out with the latest high-specification equipment and staffed by experts in their field, our Science Hubs have been developed in close partnership with industry to ensure students are at the cutting edge of scientific developments.

Our Human Performance Laboratory offers the very latest technology for sports students to utilise in their studies, including VO2 Max monitoring, Boditrax analysis, Watt bikes, Optojump Testing Systems and much more.

Creative Spaces

Art, Dance, Graphics, Media, Music, Textiles, Performing Arts – students studying these creative subjects need inspirational spaces to work, perform, rehearse, showcase and collaborate. Our dedicated hub offers learners space to nurture their talents and gain confidence, with an airy dance studio, 160-capacity performance theatre, state-of-the-art recording and editing suites, music practice rooms, a high-specification media room with green screen and art rooms, as well as an Active Learning Zone with the very latest resources.

Travel Suite

Our Travel Suite facilities truly are second to none, giving learners the essential hands-on experience that is vital for them to forge successful careers within the travel and hospitality sector across the globe. A real aircraft fuselage, baggage check-in desk, security scanner and travel agency desk are the backdrop for learning about current travel trends, health and safety and customer care from our industry-expert Tutors.

Fitness Evolution

Our unrivalled, award-winning, industry-leading sport and fitness centre, gym and spa allows you to train like the professionals, with the professionals.  The very latest professional equipment, from a Cryotherapy Suite to an Environmental Chamber, dedicated Elite Athlete gym, sauna, a dance studio and more are all under one roof on our Campus. Alongside the 3G football pitch, professional climbing wall and multi-use five-a-side pitch, there are more than 40 weekly fitness classes to suit all abilities. Bespoke gym programmes are tailored to help you achieve your own fitness goals.

Lecture Theatre

Our 100-seat Lecture Theatre hosts key speakers and guest lecturers who offer additional insights into  their specialist subject or programme area. Giving a true taste of university-level study, it is a great opportunity to gain valuable extra-curricular skills and knowledge that set our students apart from other learners.

Eco-Friendly

Our Campus has been built with environmental protection at its heart. Constructed on a reclaimed industrial site, our Campus is being actively ‘re-wilded’ to introduce natural habitats for wildlife; we use solar panels to produce electricity;  have electric car charging points and reuse collected rain water. We actively encourage recycling; the use of renewable resources and energy saving measures across Campus.
