HOW TO APPLY

Full and Part-time Study

You can apply directly or through UCAS. Unless you are applying between 12 April and 19 October to start your studies in the same year, in which case you should apply using our Clearing application process here

UCAS is the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, which operates the application process for all British universities.

We can support you in completing your UCAS application and here is a handy step-by-step guide created by UCAS

We offer workshops and individual advice on writing your personal statement (it’s not as daunting as you may at first think) and can check it for you, too. Plus, we can offer guidance on who may provide you with the ideal reference if you’re currently not in education or employment.

The application cost is £20 for a single choice (if you are applying only to Burnley College University Courses), or £26 if you are applying to study at more than one university.

UCAS will forward your application to us and we will be in touch with you directly. It may take 2-4 weeks between submitting your application and hearing from us – do not worry, you can track your application status via your UCAS account.

PGCE Study

If you already have a degree and are applying for a PGCE (Post-Graduate Certificate in Education), you should apply directly and submit it to [email protected]

Clearing

Submitting your Clearing application

Apply through Clearing if you have not submitted your application to study on a degree-level course at Burnley College University Courses. You should apply to us directly using the application form below. This form should then be submitted to [email protected]

Clearing is the process used by universities to fill remaining places they may have on their degree-level courses which are due to start in the autumn. It is often used by College and Sixth Form students when they make a final decision on their progression route after receiving their A Level  or Advanced Vocational results and is also open to those returning to education who choose to apply for a place at university later in the academic year (outside the normal application dates).

Student Finance

Fees apply to degree-level study, with the first year of a full degree programme costing £9,000. A Foundation Entry year is £6,000. Part-time degrees are charged at £1,000 per module (exclusions apply within the School of Engineering).

HNC and HND courses may also be liable to an additional registration fee of £272.

However, whatever route you choose, we will work closely with you as an individual to ensure that you have access to the very best advice and guidance on accessing financial support to which you may be eligible, according to your personal circumstances. We understand that navigating the world of Student Finance while managing your work and family commitments can be daunting. That’s why we’re here to support you every step of the way to help you discover just how affordable University-level study really is.

Our specialist advisors are here to introduce you to Student Finance England and guide you as you apply for a Student Loan to fund your university studies and living expenses during this time. And don’t forget, you won’t have to pay back any of your Student Loan until you are earning more than £2,214 a month (before tax and other deductions).

For example, if you were earning £28,800 a year (that’s £2,400 a month), you’d only pay back £16 a month. (Figures correct at 1 April 2020)

It is important to make arrangements with Student Finance England as soon as possible to fund your course and make arrangements for any additional financial support to which you may be entitled.

BCUC Bursary

This bursary is unique to BCUC – every first year, full time undergraduate can apply for the BCUC Bursary, regardless of your household income.

The BCUC Bursary is awarded in January in the form of cash, credits and tech to support you on your study journey.

If you maintain 90% attendance and are up to date with your work, you could be awarded between £500 and £2,000.

A typical package for an undergraduate whose household income is under £20,000 may look like this:

£500 Campus Credits to spend on food, trips, stationery or facilities on site

You may be eligible for: £500 Campus Credits to spend on food, trips, stationery or facilities on site OR £250 Campus Credits and £250 gym package.
