A standout performance at this year’s SPARKS Female Skills Competition saw a talented Themis apprentice claim the Northern Regional Winner title.
Isobel Barker, 23, is currently completing a Level 3 Electrical Installation Apprenticeship with Gizzi Electrical & Engineering.
She impressed judges with her exceptional technical proficiency, problem-solving skills and attention to detail during a challenging live installation.
This prestigious competition, supported by industry-leading sponsors including National Electrotechnical Training (NET) and the Electric Center, brings together the very best up-and-coming female electricians to showcase their skills under pressure.
SPARKS aims to break down stereotypes in largely male-dominated subject areas, such as skilled trades, by providing a platform for female electricians to kickstart their careers.
David Lord, Head of Construction & Engineering at Burnley College, says that Isobel’s confident performance is characteristic of her dedication to her trade:
“Isobel has shown incredible commitment, craftsmanship and professionalism throughout her apprenticeship, progressing at an impressive pace and building strong relationships with her customers.
“We’re extremely proud of her success with SPARKS.
“It’s fantastic that competitions like this offer such incredible opportunities for budding electricians to show off their skills and compete alongside their peers.”
