About the course

This course allows you to develop knowledge of how to support individuals with dementia, theoretical models and types of dementia. You will learn about the administration of medication to individuals with dementia and the benefits of engaging in activities using a person-centred approach. This qualification is intended to update CPD and to develop knowledge/skills relevant to occupational specialism.

Modules

Unit 1 – Dementia Awareness
Unit 2 – The Person-Centred Approach to the Care and Support of Individuals with Dementia
Unit 3 – Understand the Factors that can Influence Communication and Interaction with Individuals who have Dementia
Unit 4 – Understand Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Dementia Care
Unit 5 - Understand the Administration of Medication to Individuals with Dementia using a Person-Centred Approach
Unit 6 - Understand Behaviour in the Context of Dementia
Unit 7 - Understand the Benefits of Engaging in Activities in Social Care

Assessment

On this course you will be assessed regularly and will complete knowledge questions to demonstrate your acquired knowledge and skills. For each unit a set of knowledge questions are issued as the formal assessment for that unit. You complete this through the online learning platform and receive written feedback from our expert tutor. There is the option to complete this paper based should it be required. You will need to pass all units and ensure your answers to the questions meet the required assessment criteria.
