About the course
This introductory course will provide you with the opportunity to gain the qualifications you need to progress to advanced Health and Social Care courses. You will also gain insights and a clear understanding of key themes in Health and Social Care and if necessary, your qualifications in Maths and English. Whilst on the course you will study a range of units including communication and equality and inclusion, and you will consider the range of services provided in health and social care. A large part of this course is based in gaining knowledge of the principle care values, including respect, privacy and dignity and their application to practice. In addition you will be given the opportunity to learn about person centred care, human growth and development and the importance of team work in practice.

Entry Requirements
Learners must have two GCSEs at grade 3 or above or evidence of previous successful study.

Assessment
All the units are assessed using the evidence you produce as a result of the activities/tasks/assignments completed whilst at college which will make up a portfolio of work for submission.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to an Access to Higher Education Diploma or to Foundation Entry Degree course. When you have completed your studies you may be able to progress to a chosen Degree programme. Careers that this course may lead to include Nursing, midwifery, paramedics, operation department practice, radiography and speech and language therapy.
