Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma in Architectural Technology for England

Aim of the Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Architectural Technology  is to prepare students to move on to specific areas of architectural technology at Level 6 or to enter employment with the qualities and abilities necessary for roles that require personal responsibility and decision making. Students will be able to develop and apply their own ideas to their studies, to deal with uncertainty and complexity, to explore solutions, demonstrate critical evaluation and use both theory and practice in a wide range of construction situations.  By the end of Level 5, students will have a sound understanding of the principles in their area of specialist study and will know how to apply those principles more widely in the business world. They will be able to perform effectively in their specialist area.

Entry Requirements

A level 4 HNC Architectural Technology or similar. Maths and English Min Grade 4.

Unit 28: Group Project (Pearson-set) Unit 39: Personal Professional Development Unit 32: Advanced Construction Drawing & Detailing Unit 33: Construction Technology for Complex Buildings Projects Unit 47: Advanced Building Information Modelling Plus 45 credits from the list of Level 5 units.

Assessment

Assessments and projects chosen to help students progress to the next stage (this means that some are set by the centre to meet local needs, while others are set by Pearson). Students are required to apply their knowledge to a variety of assignments and activities, with a focus on the holistic development of practical, interpersonal and higher-level thinking skills Students also benefit from opportunities for deeper learning, where they can make connections between different study units and select areas of interest for detailed study. In this way, BTEC Higher Nationals in Quantity Surveying provide a vocational context in which students can develop the knowledge and academic study skills they need to progress to university degree courses. These academic study skills include: ● active research ● effective writing ● analytical skills ● critical thinking ● creative problem solving ● decision making ● preparing for exams, and ● using digital technology.
