About the course
This course will explore the effectiveness of economic policies in relation to the achievement of particular economic objectives and assess both microeconomic and macroeconomic decisions in specific contexts, giving you the skills and confidence to make judgements and decisions about the assessments you make. You will develop the necessary analytical, questioning and quantitative skills to progress in the area of Economics, as well as learn to confront topical issues and take part in student debates. You will also gain knowledge and understanding of the key aspects of economic theories and policies, as well as the impact these have on the economy and on economic agents. As part of the course you will explore the effectiveness of economic policies in relation to the achievement of a particular economic objective.

There are plenty of activities and visits to take part in that will help you achieve your ambitions. Past visits have included: • Industry visit to Cadbury World and JCB • Residential trip to Disneyland Paris • Destinations week • Residential visit to New York You will also benefit from a wide range of guest speakers to enrich the curriculum. There will be the opportunity to participate in a range of activities to gain an insight into how knowledge learned can be applied to a working context. This includes visits to Media City in Salford (home of the BBC) and the chance to take part in the BASE competition, a nationwide event designed to raise awareness of financial and business skills.
