About the course
Our BA (Hons) Media and Television Production Top Up is an industry-focused course that equips you with the skills, knowledge and experience you need to join the production crews of tomorrow. This newly developed course brings together the University’s long established successful courses in Media Production and TV Production to give you even more opportunities to develop your production skill set and enhance your career prospects.
Using our industry-standard facilities in our purpose-built Media Factory you’ll combine knowledge of production processes and techniques with an awareness of current industry practice and technical standards.
You will have multiple opportunities to be creative, producing a body of work that will showcase the breadth of your diverse craft skills. Through engaging real-world briefs and collaborative projects and with the support of caring and enthusiastic lecturers, you will develop the skills to help you launch your own career in media and television production.
Our course is supported by a wide range of the latest in industry-standard location production equipment.

Assessment
Throughout the course, you’ll attend a mixture of lectures, workshops, seminars, and tutorials. You will also carry out independent study. We will assess your progress via coursework and there are no exams on the programme. You'll get assessed by essays, reports, projects, oral presentations, and collaborative work. You will also use supportive technologies to help you complete assessments.

Studying Filmmaking Foundation Year could lead to careers in a wide variety of production roles in Television, Film and new media working for Broadcasters and content producers such as BBC, ITV, SKY and DAZN and for independent production companies creating work for platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prim Recent graduates are working in production roles such as; Camera Operator ITV, camera trainee with BBC Drama, Studio Technical Resource Manager, multimedia content producer, Video Editor, BBC Assistant Producer, AV systems technician, location manager, EVS operator, Technical Graphics operator, Live sports events director, Camera Operator HBO/ Warner Brothers, Outside Broadcast Vision Engineer, Production co-ordinator.
