Modules

Module A1: Skills Development: This unit helps develop learners skills in 2D environment creation, 2D character creation, animation and presenting the final results in Unreal Engine. Module A2: Creative Project: This unit helps learners develop their ideas from interpretation of a set brief from a client to fulfilling the clients requirements using skills and creativity appropriate to the brief. Module B1: Personal Progression: This module allows learners to gain a broad understanding of opportunities within the game art and design sector and the type of skills needed to work in particular roles, allowing you to contextualise and focus your own creative development. This module allows you to investigate roles in the sector, identify areas for personal skills development and advance your skills relating to your personal aims and interests. Module C1: Responding to a Creative Brief: This module allows learners to apply the skills they have learned throughout the programme and progress their creative skills through the development and production of an extended response to a creative brief. Learners will do this by investigating all aspects of the brief, proposing ideas and plans and applying an ongoing process of creative development, review and refinement to realise their creative intentions and present finished outcomes.

Learner receive ongoing formative feedback throughout their projects as well as summative feedback at the end of each unit. Each module has equally weighted assessment criteria: 1. Investigation 2. Communication 3. Practical Skills 4. Development 5. Approach

Careers & Progression

Learners who complete this qualification alongside other Level 2 qualifications may progress to further learning at Level 3, such as the Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice game art and design pathway. This qualification gives learners the opportunity to develop their game art and design skills through a process of self-evaluation, practice and review. In addition to the sector-specific content available in this qualification, the requirements mean that learners develop the transferable skills needed to progress to further education and ultimately higher education and employment, for example communication, planning and managing projects and creative problem solving. The qualification also supports learners in becoming more confident in taking ownership of and responsibility for their own direction, work and choices.
