About the course
Covering a wide scope of the sport and fitness industry, the course aims to give learners a work-like experience before progressing onto an Apprenticeship. Work placement at a local sport or fitness centre will provide a platform to practice new skills and may lead to a reference or extended placement and level 2 qualification. Learners will build on their professionalism with the course emphasising vocational learning specific to Sports sector. Units are designed to give you intermediate knowledge of the various sectors including Sports, Coaching, Health and Nutrition and Fitness. Your studies will help you develop your self-confidence and wider knowledge of the sports and fitness sector ready for progression onto an apprenticeship.

A minimum of two GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English Language OR a relevant Level 1 Diploma and GCSE grade 5 in English Language.
The one year programme includes 7 intermediate units including Practical Sport, Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Testing, Nutrition, Injury in Sport, Planning and Leading Sports Activities and Psychology.
The vocational qualification is assessed via coursework where you will create a portfolio of evidence to show your practical application of the units.
