About the course
Further enhance your skills and prepare for the next step in your career with our Advanced Diploma in Accounting. You will master more complex financial processes, making it perfect for you if you are interested in a career in bookkeeping, or want to go on to become a fully-qualified accountant. This intermediate level is where you’ll get to master more complex financial processes, including final accounts preparation, reports and returns and professional ethics. You will also develop skills in advanced bookkeeping, indirect tax and synoptic accounts and ethics for Accounting. The purpose of the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting is to provide you with the specialist knowledge and skills required for progressing either to employment in an accounting or finance role, or to enable progression to further study in accountancy and finance.

Entry requirements
You should have successfully achieved the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. If you are progressing from a training provider other than Burnley College, or if you have taken a break in learning, you will be required to undertake a ‘Trade Test’ to assess your suitability for the programme. If you have bankruptcy etc. please contact AAT for a formal decision before enrolling on the course. If you require any further advice regarding this, please speak to a course tutor.
Assessment
You must successfully complete four unit assessments and one synoptic assessment to achieve this qualification. All assessments in this qualification are set and marked by AAT, computer-based and are time limited.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to the AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting and apply for AAT Associate Book-keeping Membership and achieve Professional AAT QB status. You will also have the opportunity to progress onto Degree Apprenticeships or a range of other Degree courses - this course will attract UCAS points subject to current Tariff. Careers that this course may lead to include Accountant, Audit Trainee, Tax Assistant and Payroll Administrator.
