About the course
If you are thinking of starting a career in horticulture this apprenticeship will be a brilliant start for you. It is also ideal if you are thinking of a change of career or just looking to develop more skills. There are lots of different pathways when it comes to horticulture, perhaps you will choose to work in conservation, the decorative sector, or in landscaping. A competence based qualification which must be assessed in the workplace. The apprenticeship is broken down into theory and practical sessions. You can look forward to an exciting programme of modules including plant propagation, plant use and maintenance, sustainability and organic horticulture and land based machinery.

Entry requirements
A minimum of four GCSEs at grade D or above including English and Maths. Applicants must be hardworking, reliable and motivated. As part of the interview process, apprentices will undertake a Guroo assessment. Applicants who do not meet the exact entry requirements may also be considered.
Assessment
Competence is assessed through workplace visits and a portfolio. Knowledge is assessed via a portfolio and external examinations.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Horticulture. When you have completed your studies other courses that are available include a degree in horticulture or work as a skilled horticulturist working for an organisation or in self- employment.
