About the course
This dynamic course offers learners the opportunity to specialise in Acting, with expertly designed classes that develop versatile, well-rounded performers.
Learners will train in a wide range of acting disciplines, including stage and screen acting, classical theatre, physical theatre, and contemporary performance practices. Learners will also explore Movement for actors and key practitioners such as Stanislavski, Meisner, and Artaud. Alongside intensive practical work, learners will study performance theory and context, ensuring a deep understanding of both craft and industry.
The course places a strong emphasis on professional development. By the end of your training, you will be equipped with the knowledge, experience, and resources to navigate a successful career within the performing arts industry, including a personalised Electronic Press Kit to support further training, representation, and employment.
Throughout your studies you will take part in a wide range of performance opportunities, including a pantomime, two Performing Arts Showcase evenings, a full-scale Musical Theatre Production and external high-profile public events. These projects provide invaluable experience of performing to live audiences in a variety of settings.

Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including English and
Mathematics or a relevant Level 2 qualification.
Modules
Year 1: Module A Performing Arts Skills Development (Exploring Performance Styles; Creating Performance Material; Performing for an Audience). Module F The Performing Arts Industry (Planning a Career in the Industry).
Year 2: Module G Personal Performing Arts Profile (Refining Skills; Producing a Personal Project; Self-promotion and Networking). Module H Collaborative Performing Arts Project (Creative/Administrative Role; Creative Collaboration; Producing a Collaborative Project).
Assessment
Assessment will combine practical performance work with academic underpinning. Evidence may include classes, workshops, rehearsals, performances, reflective logs, extended writing, presentations, digital portfolios, edited video, and voice recordings. Work will be internally assessed and externally verified.
Careers & Progression
Learners progress to prestigious and accredited drama schools such as Italia Conti, East 15 Acting School, Guildford School of Acting or leading universities to study Acting, Theatre and Performance, or Media. Many also move directly into employment within the diverse performing arts and creative industries.
Additional Details
Equipment Needed
Black practical attire is required for your classes. You will also be expected to purchase jazz shoes and/or character shoes. It is expected that all students purchase one company t-shirt at £10.
Equipment Supplied
You will have access to industry standard performance and rehearsal spaces. The department also provides access to high-spec video cameras, changing facilities, ballet barres, acro equipment and PCs/laptops for theory lessons.
Enrichment Activities
Trips include London Residential Theatre visit with two West End shows and a professional workshop, visits to professional theatre productions across the Northwest, practical workshops with industry professionals and involvement in community theatre projects. We offer additional training with our Acting, Musical Theatre and Dance Academies facilitated by our tutors, providing further creative and performance opportunities. You will also benefit from a range of guest speakers. International trips to New York and Los Angeles.
