About the course

Gain a broad insight into the Emergency and Military Public Services by exploring their entry requirements, recruitment processes, and the key roles and responsibilities within each service. You’ll take part in individual and team sports to build your fitness, as well as complete assessments linked to service entry standards. 

Along the way, you’ll develop the skills all services value, discipline through drill, effective teamwork, strong communication, punctuality, and navigation, often put into practice on exciting expeditions. Trips, visits and real-world activities will enhance your understanding of the sector, giving you the experience and knowledge to make informed decisions about your future career.

Entry Requirements

Three GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and Mathematics or a relevant Level 1 qualification.

Assessment

You’ll be assessed through a wide variety of activities that reflect real situations in the uniformed services. This includes: 

    • Written work such as reports and research projects 
    • Practical tasks including drill routines, fitness tests and emergency scenarios 
    • Presentations and role play to demonstrate your communication and problem-solving skills 
    • Interviews and discussions to build your confidence and employability 

This mix of assessments gives you the chance to show what you can do in different ways, helping you develop both the knowledge and the practical skills needed for a future career in the services. 

Careers & Progression

Completing this Level 2 qualification opens the door to further study at Level 3, including the Extended Diploma in Uniformed Public Services. You could also progress onto another relevant Level 3 course or choose to continue your journey through an Apprenticeship programme.

Alongside your studies, you’ll take part in a wide range of enrichment opportunities designed to build your skills and give you unforgettable experiences. You’ll meet and learn directly from industry professionals, including police officers, military personnel and other service representatives. Visits to local fire and police stations give you the chance to speak with serving staff and get involved in hands-on activities linked to their roles. 

Closer to home, you’ll take part in expeditions and walks, get involved in community service projects, and contribute to activities that strengthen leadership, teamwork and civic responsibility. These experiences not only prepare you for the demands of the services but also give you skills, confidence and memories that will last a lifetime.
