About the course

The T Level Technical Qualification In Building Services Engineering for Construction allows learners to gain an understanding of the BSE industry and the industry sector.  The topics covered in this qualification will include H&S, Construction Science Principles, Sustainability in the Construction Industry and Building Services Engineering Systems.

T Levels are two-year courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares learners for work.  T Level qualifications are equivalent to three A Levels.

Learners will have the choice of studying one standalone occupational specialism or a combination of specialisms as listed below.

Standalone:

Electrotechnical engineering

Combinations:

Plumbing engineering and Heating engineering

This qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and skills needed for working in the BSE industry, which will prepare learners to enter the industry through employment or as an Apprentice.

Aditionally, completion of the T Level qualification gives the learner the opportunity to progress onto a University/Higher education study program or into further training within the industry sector.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs grades 5 to 9 or C to A*. and must include Maths and English

Assessment

Assessment is via two external examinations, an employer set practical competence assessment and the completion of a 315 hour industry placement.

Careers & Progression

Progression into industry through employment, apprenticeship, university/higher education or further training courses.

Extra curricular activities

The division is focused on links with the community and community projects, offering the opportunity for work experience for full-time learners. The college offers a wide range of engaging events from Fresher's fair to regular atrium activities throughout the academic year. Construction site, trade shows and manufacturer visits form part of the extra curricular offer for the learner.
