About the course
This course is being offered through Skills Bootcamps - part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life. As part of this course you will gain;
- a nationally recognised qualification in Work place Health & Safety
- An introduction to Fusion 360 CAD software, including exercises for you to try at home
- A 3D printing course covering set-up, producing 3D printed parts, trouble shooting and industry applications for 3D printing techniques
This course will be delivered using a blend of traditional classroom-style teaching and practical hands-on sessions. The combination of both methods will help you to gain the knowledge you need and to practically apply the knowledge gained in your current / future role. This Skills Bootcamp will also include mentoring from the tutor, who is an experienced industry professional and will provide guidance and support to you throughout your training.
In the first part of this course you will go through 1 day of Health & Safety training and 2 days of initial CAD training. After this point you will received 6 additional days of training across 6 weeks on a 1 day per week basis on 3D printing with your experienced tutor. The 3D printing course will be delivered on Mondays between 09-00 and 16-30 so you can easily combine this course with your job.
To support your learning and development there may also be opportunities to visit local Companies to understand the practical applications of this technology, as well as understanding how you could apply this within your business.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this level of study. However, you will need a reasonable level of Maths, English and IT skills in order to undertake the course as well as access to IT at home in order to undertake some of the required exercises. IT equipment may be available through the College if access to IT is an issue.
Careers & Progression
The training provided in this Skills Bootcamp will provide you with skills that will be well sought after in relation to developing new products and prototypes, as well as the production of replacement parts in a cost-effective way. The CAD training is also directly applicable to many industries that design or manufacture products. These skills are applicable across most industries, but particularly within Engineering and Manufacturing Companies. This training could also be a pathway to an enhanced role within your Company.
