About the course
Project SEARCH Calico is a one-year internship programme for students with disabilities supported with an EHCP (Educational Health and Care Plan). It is targeted for students whose goal is to gain employment in the community. Opportunities are very diverse and include Health and social care, universities, manufacturing and much more. Interns participate in three cycles of work experience to explore a variety of career paths. Each student works with a team that includes their family, an instructor and job coach inside Calico Enterprise. The programme is designed to create an employment goal and to support the intern during the transition from education to work. By focussing on the developing competitive, transferable and marketable job skills Interns work towards securing supported and sustained employment. Each develop an increased independence, confidence and self-esteem whilst building personal and professional relationships. Training focus is on soft skills required for employment, life skills and financial independence.
