About the course

This is a highly-practical course which involves problem-solving, technical challenges and working with your hands, gaining the knowledge required to become competent in a range of plumbing skills. This course covers ten modules including: up-to-date Health and Safety legislation, hot water, cold water, central heating and above-ground drainage. Practical sessions include: copper pipe bending, off-sets and jointing. Students will be trained to install a bathroom suite to industry standards, using modern plumbing components and techniques. Assessments completed on this course can be used as evidence and accreditation towards an apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of Level 2 Plumbing with recommendation from the course tutor.

Assessment

Knowledge learning outcomes will be assessed via ten multiple choice, on-screen, assessments which are externally set and marked by the awarding organisation. You will also complete a range of practical assessments within the college environment.

Careers & Progression

On successful completion of this course you may progress to an Apprenticeship in a trade related area. When you have completed your further studies other courses that are available include HNC in Construction or Building services. Careers that this course may lead to include self-employed plumber, site-supervisor, or could lead to a career in construction management.

Equipment Needed

You will be required to have your own Personal Protective Equipment while working in the workshop areas

Extra curricular activities

You will have the opportunity to be entered for the national competitions SPARKS and HIPS. You will have the opportunity to visit Worcester Bosch factory tour to see state of the art plumbing and heating equipment. You will also benefit from a wide range of guest speakers to enrich the curriculum.
