About the course

As a Pharmacy Services Assistant (PSA) you will work under the supervision of a Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, or other accountable healthcare professional. The PSA provides a variety of pharmacy and medicines services to patients.

As a PSA you will be involved in supporting the supply, preparation and assembly of medicines and products, issuing them to patients and other healthcare professionals and assisiting in providing advice to patients to make effective use of their medicines

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements include 5 GCSES at grade 4 or above with particular focus on Maths and English, to give you the best opportunity of securing an employer. Functional Skills can be studied as part of the apprenticeship, if these are not secured at GCSE level. A good level of communication skills is required, as you will be dealing with customers

Modules

You will develop skills, knowledge and behaviors in the following areas Dispensing and supply of medications and medicinal products Teamwork Communication, Pharmacy law and ethics Person centered care Health and Safety in the workplace

Assessment

You will be assessed throughout your apprenticeship by both your employer and your Trainer Assessor. End Point Assessment includes a knowledge test, simulated observation with question-and-answer session and a professional discussion

Careers & Progression

Once you have completed the Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant apprenticeship you could potentially secure employment as an assistant or progress onto a level 3 Pharmacy Apprenticeship/degree apprenticeship
