The Site Carpentry qualification is suitable for tradespeople with several years of experience in Carpentry works. You will need to demonstrate that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to safely work with cutting and shaping machines (drills, powered saws, planers, jointers etc.); and install first and second fix components.
The most common way to achieve your NVQ is called the On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) and involves an assessor collecting evidence of candidate’s skills by workplace observation and questioning. Learners will also be asked to also provide additional evidence in the forms of Toolbox Talks, Timesheets, Induction Registers and Employer’s and/or Client’s References. The whole process is designed around candidates and their needs. The idea is that assessor should not in any way interfere with the candidate’s work activities and must be almost invisible during workplace observations.
