About the course
Weeks 1&2: Live Sound
In here you will learn an overview of the equipment involved in live sound and how to set up professionally. This will include microphones, cables, mixing desks, speakers and amps. We will also look at the techniques involved with operating the mixing desk for a live sound situation/scenario.
Weeks 3&4: Recording and Production
In these 2 weeks we will mainly be looking at setting up equipment for a recording session with all of the equipment above. We will also introduce the DAW system (Logic) for recording sessions.
Weeks 5&6: DAW Production Skills (Digital Audio Workstation)
In here we will look in more depth at the Logic system. We will develop a variety of digital music production skills such as using inputting and manipulating MIDI and audio. We will also look at using effects such as dynamic processes, EQs, reverb and modulation effects.

There are no formal entry requirements. However there will be a short, informal interview to ensure the course meets the desired outcomes and is appropriate for the applicant.

Progression could include working in live sound for gigs, theatres and events and working on theatre sound design. On the course you will work with others sharing a similar interest, subsequently there will be networking opportunities within the group.
