About the course
You will be employed by a company and attend Themis at Burnley College one day per week*.You will be taught in Themis’ industry standard workshops equipped with an extensive range of tools and equipment. Our furniture and wood machining trainers have extensive knowledge and industrial experience. Our well-established links with employers ensure that our apprentices are kept up-to-date with the latest developments and career opportunities within the industry. Group work and study sessions will cover a wide range of topics including: Making furniture assemblies Making wooden components of handcrafted furniture Traditional polishing Upholstering standard items of furniture (modern and traditional)

Entry Requirements
A minimum of two GCSEs at Grade 5 or above. Applicants must be hardworking, reliable and motivated. As part of the interview process, Apprentices will undertake a BKSB assessment in English, Mathematics and ICT. You may also need to sit the Construction Skills Structured Learning Exercise if your employer requests it. Applicants who do not meet the exact entry requirements may also be considered.
Assessment
Knowledge learning outcomes will be assessed via on-screen assessments, externally set and marked by the awarding organisation and a range of assignments, projects and written assessments covering theory and practical skills, externally set by the awarding organisation. Performance learning outcomes (skills), will require auditable evidence.
