About the course

Early Years Educators, and other job roles such as nursery practitioners and childminders, are highly trained professionals who play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. They work in a range of settings including full day care, children's centres, pre-schools and childminders, delivering the Early Years Foubdation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by Govenrment for the development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.

Entry Requirements

Individuals will undergo all the checks as per the EYFS requirements to ensure suitability to work with children. An Enhanced DBS will be required

Assessment

Once the employer is satisfied the apprentice is consistently working at, or above, the level of the occupational standard. The apprentice must complete the following approved qualifications mandated in the standard: • Early years educator qualification (Level 3) • Apprentices must successfully complete a first aid qualification in line with the requirements of the EYFS Framework (Annex A): Early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) • English and maths (Level 2) The apprentice also must complete a portfolio of evidence that will underpin the Professional Discussion.

Careers & Progression

Progression from this apprenticeship may include securing fulltime employment within the Early Years sector and/or progression onto Degree level study
