About the course

The purpose of your course is to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours within the world of business! Whether you're new to the subject, or you've studied before, this advanced course will allow you to delve deep into a range of topics including digital marketing, finance, leadership and management, event management, retail, employment law and much more. Our motto is 'by industry, with industry, for industry' and we work with employers and industry specialist to ensure your learning is in line with business practices, wants and needs.

There will be involved with industry specialists and employers as guest speakers as you look to develop your knowledge of business elements in practice. Additionally, as part of your work, you will be given real-life business scenarios and in some cases may have to present back to an employer in industry. This course is assessed through four external examinations and nine internally assessed units in which you will complete assignment tasks which may include reports, presentations, roles plays and much more.

The nature of business and studying in this field means that there are tonnes of routes you can take once you've finished your studies. You can continue to study business or related subjects at a higher level, move into an apprenticeship or move into employment. Previous learners have acquired apprenticeships in finance, marketing and others have gone onto work for lucrative film studios such as Marvel.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for this qualification is five grade five at GCSE Level. You will be expected to meet with one of the teaching team and undertake an interview to assess your suitability and interest in the course.

Modules

This course is assessed through four external examinations and nine internally assessed units in which you will complete assignment tasks which may include reports, presentations, roles plays and much more. 2 exams are taken in year 1 and an additional 2 in year two with learners allowed 1 additional attempt for each exam. Formative assessments take place at the start of each unit and at progress review points every three weeks. Summative assessments take place throughout internal units in the form of a range of assignment work which can include presentations, reports, business plans, recorded role plays, events and industry materials.

Careers & Progression

The nature of business and studying in this field means that there are tonnes of routes you can take once you've finished your studies. You can continue to study business or related subjects at a higher level through a university degree, move into an apprenticeship or move into employment. Previous learners have acquired apprenticeships in finance, marketing and others have gone onto work for lucrative film studios such as Marvel. Those who complete an advanced level in business or a related subject may find that they are able to move into entry level positions with salaries starting from around £19,000.

Equipment Needed

You should have access to basic stationary and equipment such as a notepad and a scientific calculator. You would benefit from access to a laptop computer or Chromebook.

You will have access to facilities and equipment designed to enhance your learning experience. Learn in our open-plan mezzanine space and access Chromebooks and Macs to develop real business materials.

Your learning experience is enhanced through a range of exciting extra curricular activities. As part of your studies you will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice through engagement with employers and local businesses. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to get out and see local, national and global businesses with trips planned to Belgium, France, New York City and San Francisco. Here, you will have the opportunity to see first hand how global businesses are monopolising markets and enhancing customer experiences.
