About the course
On this course you will explore the factors limiting sports performance, and develop strategies to overcome these limitations and breakthrough performance plateaus. The best Sport and Exercise Scientists have learnt that this is only half the battle; to be successful you need to master the art of providing feedback, support and advice in a way that is beneficial and easy to understand for athletes and coaches. These skills are developed with experience and this programme will help you become a reflective practitioner. You will study key modules in sports nutrition and performance analysis, as well as biomechanics and kinesiology. The broad range of areas you will cover ensures you get a taste of all areas of the sports science field gaining a thorough understanding along the way. Throughout the degree programme you will benefit from a variety of guest lectures from industry practitioners, field trips and have the chance to attend sport and exercise science conferences. Our Lecturers have a strong background in professional sports, with the experience, knowledge and industry contacts to help you succeed. The standard full time tuition fee rate for this course in 20123/24 for Home and EU students is £9000 per year. The standard full time tuition fee for the Foundation Year for this course in 2023/24 is £6000.

Entry Requirements
For this course, a typical offer will be a UCAS Tariff score of 80. A minimum of two full A Levels (or equivalent) is required, however every application is considered on an individual basis.

Assessment
The balance of assessment will vary depending on the modules undertaken but will include mostly coursework, with some practical and written exams.
Careers & Progression
When you finish this course you will have acquired the skills necessary to work in the fitness industry, health promotion and exercise referral initiatives. Graduates will also be well suited to careers in sports development and personal training. You may choose to go into sports science support for individual athletes or teams delivering fitness testing, strength and conditioning programmes. Additionally, you will be able to take on a range of professional and postgraduate qualifications such as a PGCE. Throughout your time with us, we will support you on the route to your chosen career.
