About the course
Within this course students will engage in the study of the human body, how drugs work and are used to treat disease and how drugs can help to understand body functioning and the disease process with specialist subject options available in years 2 and 3. The course will provide students the opportunity to learn more about a range of disciplines including; pathophysiology, biochemistry, anatomy, cell biology and molecular biology. In addition students will develop their study skills in order to successfully engage within their lessons and an understanding of careers available within the field.

Entry Requirements
Our typical offer is 104-112 UCAS Points. BTEC Extended Diploma: Distinction, Distinction, Merit Appropriate Access to HE Course: 112 UCAS points including 15 level 3 credits with distinction in Chemistry or Biology GCSE: 5 at grade C/4 including Maths & English or equivalent Face to face interview will also take place.

Assessment
This course will be assessed using a combination of methods including essays and practical reports, data handling exercises, oral and poster presentations, written and multiple choice exams, course work and peer assessment.
Careers & Progression
Graduates gain employment in a variety of fields including; clinical (for example Bio Medical Scientist, Clinical Scientist, Audiology, Vet Pathology and Public Health), industry (for example Pharmaceuticals, Bio Technology, Product Development and Patenting Drugs). Further study can include MSc, PhD, Medicine or Dentistry. There is also the opportunity to progress into research careers, for example hospital or research institutes or clinical trials.
