About the course
A Level Photography enables students to learn the “language” of photography, how to “read” and analyse images, including the techniques, processes and skills that are essential to actively photographing. This is a structured course, enabling students to creatively respond to a theme through the research of relevant artists who inspire them. Passion, commitment, imagination, visual, written and verbal communication skills are essential fundamentals to succeed in A Level Photography. This paves way for a clear and concise approach to own intentions and conceptual understanding. The sophisticated ideas are explored in depth throughout this course by using a wide variety of photographic styles, skills and techniques. These include a variety of mixed media and combination of techniques that vary from hand rendered to digitalised explorations. Primary research is essential and you will have the opportunity to visit art and photography galleries as well as museums which are an essential stimulating part of this course. This enables students to show in depth cultural awareness and make relevant connections in the development of their own ideas within their project. The students have access to the photography studio, darkroom and the classroom throughout the week. During the time on this course students will be introduced to experiences that explore a range of photographic media, techniques and processes including traditional and new technologies.
