About the course
The Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship is a level 2 apprenticeship standard that offers the entry point for a career in Accountancy. The apprenticeship embeds the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accountancy consisting of four mandatory units with exam based assessment at the end of each unit. These units are: Introduction to Bookkeeping Principals of Bookkeeping Controls Principals of Costing The Business Environment The apprenticeship is delivered on a day release model where you will study the core content of the four units with incorporation of the development of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful in the role. You will be employed as an apprentice in an accounts or finance assistant role within corporate business, accountancy firms, public or private sector, education establishments or not-for-profit organisations. Successful achievement of the apprenticeship is awarded on completion of the end point assessment (EPA) consisting of an in-tray test and structured interview underpinned by a workplace portfolio of evidence.

Entry Requirements
5 GCSE's at grade 4 or above with a grade 6 or above in Maths.
Modules
The Level 2 Certificate in Accountancy consists of four units and includes; Introduction to Bookkeeping, Principles of Bookkeeping Controls, Principles of Costing and The Business Environment Synoptic assessment.
Assessment
The Apprenticeship will be assessed in two parts, for the level 2 Certificate in Accounting all four units will be assessed by exam with a 70% or above pass mark to be successful. Grading for this element will be awarded as a Pass, Merit or Distinction. Successful achievement of this element must be completed to then complete the end point assessment (EPA) of the apprenticeship. The end point assessment (EPA) consists of a an in-tray test and structured interview underpinned by a workplace portfolio of evidence. You will build your portfolio of evidence throughout your apprenticeship journey. To be successful you must achieve all elements of the end point assessment (EPA).
Careers & Progression
Completion of this apprenticeship could allow progression to the Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship or employment in roles such as a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Clerk, Bookkeeper or Purchase Ledger within a finance team or accountancy organisation.
