About the course
An apprenticeship combines on-the-job practical work experience with study, allowing you to master more complex accounting disciplines, as well as achieving the AAT Certificate in Accounting. You will further enhance your skills and prepare you for the next step in your career with our Professional Diploma in Accounting. At the intermediate level, you will master more complex financial processes. The units covered are: Advanced Bookkeeping, Final Accounts Preparation, Management Accounting: Costing, Indirect Tax Compulsory Advanced Synoptic Assessment. The synoptic assessment tests students’ understanding of connections between the different topics covered across the qualification. A portfolio and reflective discussion which will comprise a range of evidence produced in the work-place to show that the Apprentice has met the knowledge, skills and behaviours detailed in the standard. The reflective discussion will be a structured interview to examine this evidence and the learner journey in more detail

Entry Requirements
You must have successfully achieved the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. Alternative nationally recognised qualifications may also allow access to this programme including A Level Accounting at Grade A*-C or a Level 2 Accountancy qualification from an awarding body other than AAT. Progression students from colleges other than Burnley College, or students that have taken a break in learning will be required to undertake a ‘Trade Test’ to assess suitability for the programme.
Assessment
You must successfully complete four unit assessments and one synoptic assessment to achieve this qualification. All assessments in this qualification are set and marked by AAT, are computer-based and are time limited. Your portfolio and reflective discussion will comprise a range of evidence produced in the work-place to show that you have met the knowledge, skills and behaviours detailed in the standard. The reflective discussion will be a structured interview to examine this evidence and the learner journey in more detail.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to the Profesional AAT qualification. You will also have the opportunity to progress onto Higher and Degree Apprenticeships or a range of other Degree courses. Careers that this course may lead to include Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant.
