About the course
An apprenticeship combines on-the-job practical work experience with study. This means you'll be earning a salary and getting valuable experience at work, as well as achieving the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting, this is an ideal starting point if you wish to pursue a career in accountancy or finance. This introductory level is where you’ll get to develop your skills in finance administration: double-entry bookkeeping, basic costing principles and purchase, sales and general ledgers. The units covered are: Bookkeeping Transactions, Bookkeeping Controls, Elements of Costing, Using Accounting Software, Work Effectively in Finance. Compulsory Foundation Synoptic Assessment. The synoptic assessment tests students’ understanding of connections between the different topics covered across the qualification. Some units will be assessed only by an end of unit assessment, while others will also be included in the synoptic assessment.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of two GCSEs at Grade 5 or above. Applicants must be hardworking, reliable and motivated. As part of the interview process, Apprentices will undertake a BKSB assessment in English, Mathematics and ICT. Applicants who do not meet the exact entry requirements may also be considered.
Assessment
You must successfully complete four unit assessments and one synoptic assessment to achieve this qualification. All assessments in this qualification are set and marked by AAT. They are computer-based and are time limited.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to an Advanced Level Apprenticeship. You will then have the opportunity to progress onto Higher and Degree Apprenticeships or a range of other Degree courses. Careers that this course may lead to include Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant.
