About the course

From 28 September 2022, it will be a requirement that all electrical installations designed after this date comply with BS 7671:2018 amendment 2, 18th Edition. Ammendment 2 of the 18th Edition was launched in March 2022, there is a six month transition period for electrical contractors and electricians to work in compliance with the new ammendment. This 18th Edition course will cover the following updates, Scope, object and fundamental principles Definitions Assessment of general characteristics Protection for safety Selection and erection of equipment Inspection and testing Special installations or locations Appendices Key changes to the 18th Edition include:- The Protection against over voltages - Clause 443 is likely to be overhauled. Protection against fire - Chapter 42 will be updated with extra information on arc fault detection. Electrical Embedded heating - Section 753 will be extended to include embedded electrical heating systems for surface heating and will include de-icing and frost prevention systems. Energy efficiency and the requirements prosumers of electricity.

Entry Requirements

Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course. As a general rule candidates should have knowledge of electrical installation and electrical science. This qualification is intended for qualified, experienced practising electricians and ensures that they are familiar with the layout, content and implementation of the regulations.

Assessment

A 2 hour online examination to be held at Burnley College following the training provided.
