Secondary pupils from across the area discovered an early taste of life at Burnley College as they joined us for Taster Week.
Designed to show them exactly what college life has to offer, the students, who will start their final year at high school in September experienced what their futures could hold as a Burnley College Student.
Attendees came from Burnley schools including Sir John Thursby, Burnley High and Blessed Trinity and further afield from Park High & Fishermore in Colne, Todmorden High, Rhyddings in Accrington, All Saints in Rawtenstall, St Bedes, Blackburn Central and Our Lady & St John in Blackburn and Ribble Valley Schools Oakhill College, Ribblesdale High, Bowland High School.
Students immersed themselves in subjects ranging from Beauty to Construction and Cyber Security to Creative Performance, exploring two sessions during their half day experience.
Whether they were investigating what careers as ‘Crimestoppers’ might look like in the law and order session, to trying out a ‘World Tour’ covering options from Geography to Travel and Tourism, each session offered hands-on activities and the opportunity to discover where their interests could take them.
The practical activities encouraged students to think beyond the classroom and for many, it was the first time they could picture themselves studying a subject they love and turning it into a career.
Thank you to all the schools that joined us for Taster Week. We hope everyone enjoyed their experience and left feeling inspired about what lies ahead.
