Parents and guardians were also able to learn more about the financial support, pastoral care and careers advice that universities can provide.

Talks from expert speakers covered key topics such as making the progression from college to university a smooth process and tips for making a strong UCAS application to the most competitive universities.

Burnley College alumna Chloe Bond inspired attendees with reflections on her experiences of reading Education with English, Drama and the Arts at the University of Cambridge and studying abroad in Vancouver, before returning to the college start an internship with the marketing team last summer.

Henry Durrant, 16, from Clitheroe, attended the event with his mum Helen and praised the supportive atmosphere:

“I’m really glad that I attended – it’s given me lots of food for thought!”

Helen added:

“We’re extremely grateful to the representatives from universities around the country who gave their time to support this special evening.
