A Themis Apprentice working for a global perfume manufacturer could soon be heading to the national finals of a prestigious worldwide competition.
21-year-old Themis Laboratory Technician, Abby Gallaher from Burnley, took part in the highly respected national qualifiers of the WorldSkills Laboratory Technician competition.
Abby is employed by world-leading fragrance and perfume manufacturer Carvansons based in Haslingden.
Her role is to create perfume formulations within their industry-leading laboratories to exact specifications.

The apprenticeship Abby is studying is specifically designed by the expert team at Themis to develop the skills needed to be an outstanding Science Laboratory Technician and give learners the tools to advance to more senior roles.

- Attention to detail
- Time management
These are essential skills for anyone competing in the closely fought WorldSkills competition.
Abby’s stage took place at Manchester University with Abby confidently completing both of her tasks in the allotted time frame.
After this stage in the competition scores are quality assured and finalists are announced so competitors can prepare and practice for the National Finals.
