High Flyer Returns to Burnley College to Inspire Students

Former Travel and Tourism student Jayden French, who has recently landed his dream role at Ryanair, returned to Burnley College to deliver a talk to students following in his footsteps.

He delivered an in-depth session with one of his new colleagues, Summer, and spoke to Travel and Tourism students across various levels and year groups.

Jayden spoke candidly about returning to the college, he said:

“It feels astonishing because I only left in May. I have sat in this classroom many times before, and now I am delivering a session to students about the job I have just got, which is the role they are learning to get.

“It is also really nice coming back and seeing my tutors again.”

Jayden went through six weeks of rigorous training when beginning his role at the airline and was pushed to his limits.

However, he shared that his time at the college has helped him prepare in the best possible way. He said:

“A lot of the stuff that I learned at college has come in handy, in particular during my training and specifically in Cabin Crew and in Aviation, such as terminology and things like that. It has all really helped, especially because you are assessed on it all the time.

“To have that background knowledge has also allowed me to help other people who were in the same position as me.”

Upon his return to the college, he got the opportunity to see some familiar faces in his former Travel and Tourism tutors, who collectively said:

“We are incredibly proud of Jayden and everything he has achieved! From the moment we first met Jayden during our Year 11 BC Programmes, his passion for becoming Cabin Crew was clear.

“Throughout his studies with us, he consistently demonstrated dedication, determination and an excellent work ethic, always pushing himself to achieve his very best and striving for distinctions in his work.

“It is incredibly rewarding to see his hard work pay off and to see him fulfilling a career ambition he has worked so hard towards. It is equally fantastic to welcome him back and see him sharing his experiences, inspiring the next generation of Travel and Tourism professionals to follow their own career aspirations.”

Jayden returned with the aim of trying to inspire the next generation of students who are aspiring to work in the Travel and Tourism industry and shared some really valuable advice in his talk. He said:

“My advice would be to learn from the best, learn from your tutors. They are the ones who have worked in the industry before; take everything you can from every guest speaker.

“The college has helped me and I want to return that favour. To be able to come back and speak to students about the job I am doing, which might be their dream job, is amazing.”
