An ambitious Travel and Tourism student has excelled during a prestigious work placement with global travel leader TUI.
Jayden French, 18, from Accrington and a former student at Mount Carmel RC High School, made his mark at the tourism giant’s regional Blackburn store. He successfully shadowed fellow travel advisors, facilitated travel money transactions and met with the Regional Sales Manager for the North West to find out what it takes to run the retail division of a company with an international reputation for success.
Level 3 learner Jayden shared that the experience has been transformational to his future ambitions:
“I threw myself wholeheartedly into what I can only describe as the best week ever – it’s been such a fulfilling experience!
“I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity to learn more about the industry and put my professional skills to the test.
“I’m also very proud to have received excellent feedback from my colleagues and the store’s Branch Manager. They said that it’s rare to find someone at this early stage in their career that is so caring, passionate about travel and could easily take on a permanent role.
“I’m excited to continuing exploring my career options and let my wings fly high, hopefully 38,000ft in the air with TUI in the future!”
Natasha Molyneux, Programme Leader in Travel & Tourism, shared that Jayden’s success on his placement is characteristic of his admirable work ethic and determination.
“Jayden is a passionate and ambitious learner with big dreams for his future.
“He not only consistently achieves high grades, being firmly on track to achieve a Distinction* grade this year, but brings positivity to every session and is always supportive of his peers.
“He’s a credit to Burnley College and we’re extremely proud of him.”
